The 2007 numbers are in and many records were set this year regarding the electronic filing of income tax returns. Over 76 million taxpayers electronically filed their tax returns. This included a surge in the amount of taxpayers who filed at the last minute. Most of the time, last minute filers are those clogging up the lines at the post office.
One of the interesting statistics to note is that more than 59 million refunds were directly deposited into taxpayers’ accounts.
