Should I Handle My Own Offer in Compromise with the IRS – Continued

standupirsI wanted to follow up on the earlier article asking the question, should I make my own offer in compromise, with a book that you can get at Amazon.com or most book stores entitled, “Stand Up to the IRS.”  This book will give you a great start in dealing with the IRS, no matter what your issue is.  There are chapters on handling audits and examinations, submitting and offer in compromise, what is a tax lien, the basics like which tax returns do you have to have filed with the IRS before they will even begin to negotiate with you and much more.  I found this book was written in a very understandable way.  You don’t need to have a law degree to understand how this book describes working with the IRS.  The biggest disadvantage most people have with dealing with the IRS is that they do not know their rights.  This book really breaks down exactly what information you have to provide the IRS, what you should provide them, and what you should never provide them.  If you are interested in handling your own issues before the IRS, you should definitely check out “Stand Up to the IRS” by Frederick W. Daily.
